The Maelstrom series is a robust and versatile collection of dive watches, crafted for the venturesome and tenacious individual. Combining durability with style, the Maelstrom ensures you’re prepared for any challenge. Drawing inspiration from the classic Super Compressor dive watches, it incorporates modern technology for enhanced water resistance.

Originally launched at the end of 2021 in four captivating colorways, the initial lineup of Maelstroms has since sold out and been discontinued. We’ve refined its design and made improvements, and are excited to present the latest iteration: the Maelstrom - Tales of the Sea, featuring a striking Teal colorway.

Launch details

The Maelstrom - Tales of the Sea will launch and be ready to ship immediately in early October 2024. Retail price remains unchanged at US$599.

Dial

The term "Maelstrom" denotes a powerful oceanic vortex. We sought to capture this dynamic energy in our updated dials, now featuring choppy currents that play beautifully with light, mimicking the glistening movement of ocean waves under sunlight. The minute track is now enhanced with a concentric circlular pattern, elegantly framing the three-dimensional center dial, adding depth and dimension to the Tales of the Sea's design. The teal colour evokes a sense of calm and serenity while also hinting at the ocean's dynamic and vibrant nature.

Bezel

As the Maelstrom is a Super Compressor style watch, the dive bezel is under the watch crystal. This keeps it protected at all times. The bezel's surface is chamfered, giving the Maelstrom a sense of depth and texture. We have added lumed bezel minute markings for the first 20 minutes. This enhancement improves the Maelstrom's diving capabilities by enabling divers to accurately time their decompression stops.

Caseback

We take great pride in, and are known for our captivating and intricate caseback artworks. In this release, we're excited to present Mitch Mason's mascot, Mitch, for the first time. Continuing the motif of the energetic humpback whale, this design features Mitch as a companion on an adventurous journey through the depths of the vast ocean.

Hands

We retain Mitch Mason's signature hour hand knot-pattern, which are custom designed to be bold and gallant, facilitating quick time-reading even in challenging situations. The knot-pattern symbolizes our commitment to blending vintage and contemporary design elements.

Quick specs

The Tales of the Sea has a 40mm case, 47mm lug-to-lug length and a 20mm lug width. This ensures a comfortable fit for most wrist sizes starting from 6 inches. With a height of just 12mm, it’s an ideal choice for everyday wear. It is powered by the reliable Miyota 9015 high-beat automatic movement, offering both hacking and hand-winding functions for accurate time setting.
